During Terra’s extensive 20-year journey within the medical system, her role as a Prescribing Nurse Practitioner became a pivotal part of her career. Her exploration into Functional Medicine was driven by a desire to find more meaningful ways to support her patients, family, and herself. Those years as a PCP were enlightening, highlighting the differences between traditional medicine’s approach to disease prevention and the more holistic methods she was drawn to.
With her vast experience, Terra has developed a unique perspective on healthcare. While she values the role of pharmaceuticals, she recognized their limitations in preventing diseases and addressing the root causes of inflammatory disorders. Often, while medications can ease symptoms, they might also lead to imbalances and additional health issues.
Her focus on individualized care is a cornerstone of her practice, as she strives to tailor her approach to each patient’s unique needs. Terra is dedicated to understanding the underlying causes of health concerns and creating personalized treatment plans. This journey into Functional Medicine has not only broadened her professional expertise but has also enabled her to offer more holistic and sustainable health solutions.

Dr. Alicia McCubbins, ND is a naturopathic doctor with over 15 years of clinical experience in integrative and functional medicine. Specializing in fertility, hormonal balance, menopause, thyroid and adrenal health, digestive issues, emotional wellness, neurodivergence, hypermobility, and dysautonomia, she brings a deeply personalized and evidence-informed approach to healing. Her educational journey began with a degree in Dietetics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and continued at the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon, where she earned her doctorate with Honors in Research for Detoxification Methods.
Dr. McCubbins is passionate about helping with all health issues but feels particularly connected to topics that resonate with her personal experiences, as they have deepened her understanding and empathy. As a doctor specializing in natural fertility solutions, Dr. McCubbins has also faced her own challenges with conception. This personal journey has equipped her with a unique perspective and a wealth of resources to share with her patients. She understands the emotional and physical toll of fertility struggles and is committed to being a compassionate partner for those on this path.
Over the past 4-5 years, Dr. McCubbins has explored hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, discovering that her own genetic predispositions explain a lifetime of unique tendencies. These are now seen as beautiful aspects of a hypermobile person, including a higher likelihood of neurodivergence. This self-discovery allows her to connect deeply with patients, helping them embrace their own journeys of self-understanding.
Dr. Alicia McCubbins is thrilled to return to her hometown community of Two Rivers and the Lakeshore, bringing her expertise and passion for naturopathic medicine to serve the people she grew up with. Her journey led her to open Chef Contos Kitchen & Store in Vermont—a culinary haven recognized by Food & Wine Magazine as one of the world’s best cooking schools, offering top-tier education and chef-curated retail.
After successfully overcoming rheumatoid arthritis through functional medicine, Courtney discovered her true calling: merging her culinary expertise with her passion for holistic healing. JorJa believes in addressing the root causes of health issues naturally and is passionate about the power of essential oils.
She and her husband are happily settled in Manitowoc, where they are nurturing their dream of a hobby farm. Known for her compassion and dedication, Paige was recognized as the 2019 WEMSA Critical Care Paramedic of the Year, a testament to her exceptional skills and patient care.
Growing up, Paige was inspired by her parents’ passion for personal health and wellness, instilling in her a lifelong interest in understanding the root causes of illness and how to manage and care for them effectively. Her curiosity and commitment drive her to help patients achieve a better place in their health journey, offering not only medical expertise but also heartfelt care.
Outside of her demanding profession, Paige finds solace in the great outdoors. She loves hiking, gardening, and spending time in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where the natural beauty fuels her sense of peace and adventure.

Her responsibilities include managing patient inquiries, coordinating appointments, and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers. Amara’s empathetic nature and strong communication skills enable her to build trusting relationships with patients, enhancing their overall experience at the practice.
In addition to her role at Genesis, Amara serves as an EMT with a local ambulance service and is currently pursuing a Midwifery degree at Southwest Technical College. She has a deep fascination with integrative medicine and is always eager to learn something new every day. Her passion lies in incorporating holistic medicine into her personal care, and she aspires to bring this approach to her future patients.
